We had a good read. For the benefit of yourself. Be sure to read to the end. I want you to get good knowledge from Riverside Rehab . Here's a typical afternoon rush starting at about 5:00pm at Metra and Union Pacific's Ogilvie Transportation Center (formerly the Chicago & Northwestern Railway's Northwestern Station) in downtown Chicago. The station was originally built for the C&NW in 1911, used for intercity and commuter trains until 1971 with the forming of Amtrak, and it is still used for commuter traffic on those same lines (now owned by UP). The original headhouse was demolished in 1985 and replaced with the sleek Citicorp office tower whose lobby now serves as the headhouse of the station, and though the original building is gone, the new one is a very impressive piece of architecture nevertheless. Also, despite a 1994 rehab, much of the trainshed and its structure remain original. Trains on Metra's Union Pacific North, Northwest, and West Lines all board from this terminal, which, with its 16 terminal tracks handles trains that serve an average of 41000 commuters each day. This is a quick tour, starting from the Washington Street waiting and ticketing area, with its newly-built shops, up the rear stairs to one of the platforms, then out into the main lobby on the second level of the Citicorp Center, down into the first floor, then back up and across the walkway to One Riverside Plaza, with its original C&NW signs. Also seen is the pedestrian rush along the river and Madison Street.
